And the award for best attraction goes to…!
These days, the words “amusement park” and “attractions” don’t merely conjure up images of Disneyland and its wonderful parade Disney characters. Asia, especially, has contributed more than her share of wonders. Aside from the Disneyland sites in Tokyo and Hong Kong, there is Sentosa and the Siam Ocean World. Other amusement parks and eco-friendly attractions have also made themselves known.
And now, for the first time ever, an event in honor of Asia’s finest theme parks and attractions will be held. The Asian Attraction Awards (AAA) will be presented by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) and AXN Asia on June 28, 2007 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Awards is divided into categories such as Large Attraction (1.5 million visitors & above), Medium Attraction (0.5 to 1.499 million visitors), Small Attraction (below 500,000 visitors) and Theme Park (Zoo, Aquarium, Water Park, Heritage & Culture). Winning attractions will be chosen, not by a panel of judges, but by the public who have voted online or via text message. The event will be televised in countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and India. The media coverage will span a total of 22 countries in Asia, reaching out to over 75 million cable subscribers.
This event will not merely serve to commemorate the people’s favorite attractions, it will also serve to boost the excitement in Asian tourism. At the moment, top attractions include: The Ngong Ping 360, Ocean Park in Hong Kong, the Jurong Bird Park and Thailand’s Dream World.
For interested voters, you can log on to the Asian Attractions Awards website.

One of my personal favorites was Daryl, the Dunder Mifflin warehouseman whom Michael (the boss) always always try [...]

What is your carbon footprint? Hmm… ok, let’s start over… What is a carbon footprint?
A carbon footprint is a “measure of the impact human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide“.
Here’s a nifty tool from ivillage.com, an online calculator to measure carbon footprints. I think this is [...]
I just got myself a PSP slim today. What fun! I already have one PSP and the reason for this purchase was to try out the player vs. player mode of Sega’s Virtual Tennis. I could tell you we played for hours! While walking in the mall, at home in the living room, and [...]
It’s not only China that’s going bike crazy, Amsterdam is following the craze with bike rentals by the thousands. If you’re heading the windmill country you may want to consider breezing through the many wonders this city has to offer by riding one of them bicycles.
CNN travel correspondent Rick Steves has written a good [...]
We all remember how good ‘ol mom would always remind us to “brush your teeth before going to bed, dear”, or “use toothpaste for heaven’s sake” or “would you please brush your molars too?”. It was good for mom to do that, if they didn’t I think half the world (or even more) would be [...]
Actress Sienna Miller has won a case against a paparazzi photo published in the Daily Star. This photo was taken when she was waiting for an elevator in an LA building. The court ruled that Ms. Miller was clearly harassed and so therefore has decided in favor of Ms. Miller, this decision after viewing a [...]
