netapp_logojpg Netapp is the No. 1 employer in the USA today unseating quite a handful of popular employers including Google (No. 1 for the last 4 years).  Do take note though that the title implies NetApp as a great employer, not a company who is on the top spot for business success and leadership. I read an article yesterday explaining why NetApp has kept the top spot.  And it would seem that "cultural sensitivity" has been a prime reason. Makes sense.  If a company knows how to treat you and make you happy... ...

Do you know what the best invention of 2008 is? It's the retail DNS tester. Yes, the simple Joes can now check for DNA compatibility for whatever motive possible. Paternity tests, maternity tests... it's not rocket science anymore. As the manufacturer's website says... "see your genes in a whole new light!". It would seem that you are now able to check your genes and compare what was passed on to your children. You know how much this retail DNA tester costs... US$399 plus tax and shipping. It is cool to ...

Ok... this is a little weird for me.  I'm not too sure if I can eat Wall-E, let alone Eve!   This Wall-E movie inspired Japanese bento is something to admire.  I'm very sure it took a great amount of time (and love for the movie) to create this "art".  I like how Eve floats by Wall-E... great work for bento maker extraordinaire AnnaTheRed. I'm a little unsure if it'll ever come out into regular Japanese joints though.  The thought of movie-inspired food is applaudable.  Head on over to the artist's blog to sample a lot more of ...

Really amusing isn't it?  This is an actual hotel room, "capsule sized", in Japan.  For busy tourists who would just like a clean place to rest and sleep, have minimal baggage/suitcase, this may be the solution.  Every capsule is made of fiber glass, dimensions are 2m x 1.25m x 1.

Facilities range in entertainment offerings (most include a television, an electronic console, and wireless internet connection). These capsules are stacked side by side and two units top to bottom, with steps providing access to the second level rooms. Luggage is stored in a locker, usually ...

Why you'd need to access a PC while floating at sea or in a pool is just FURTHER OUT THERE for me, but hey I'm not complaining.  A lot of gadgets floating around today aren't really "that" useful either.  I remember the Robots movie tag "see a need, fill a need"... some gadgets today go by this tagline "build a need, fill a need".  So I guess this will work too.  Build something and who knows, this might come out as standard in tomorrow's airline or ship's safety first-response devices.  Don't worry about ...

According to Wall Street Journal, big technology firms are putting all their chips in and investing in wireless technology.  Every major thing in the future will be built on wireless.  Shopping, tourism, health, insurance, business, retail, communication, clothing... every major industry will be doing things wirelessly.  While I do think most of these businesses are there already, WSJ is predicting that everyone will be there... everyone. Here's an excerpt from WSJ:

"As early as Wednesday, an unlikely alliance of titans from the cable, Internet and chip industries will disclose they are investing $3.2 billion in a company ...

This post is a continuation of my Cliff’s Notes for Who Moved My Cheese, the book by Spencer Johnson, M.D. (also the Author of The One Minute Manager). Hope you enjoy my annotations of the rest of the principles!

Was watching Oprah months ago, she had this feature about different families from different cultures who are struggling to make ends meet.  I thought, well that's not original.  Everyone on planet earth, except probably for the .01% of the privileged few, STRUGGLE all the time.  From basic things like putting three healthy meals on the table everyday, medicine for the sick, education for the children, caring for the old... ah the world has too many struggles. I was about to hit for another channel when SOMETHING ORIGINAL came on.  Enter KIVA.org . Kiva is a catalyst.  It acts ...

Finally, after quite some time, I give you the Cliff's Notes for "Who Moved My Cheese"! MY cheese was moved quite so often lately, so I apologize for delivering this only now.. Last post, I had talked about Who Moved My Cheese in a general way. Today, I will give you a Cliff’s Notes version of Who Moved My Cheese. No, I won’t give you spoilers on the parable itself. But I will give you the main principles of the book. If you want to enjoy the childlike beauty of the Who Moved My Cheese parable, you better grab the book for yourself. So, ready for a few life-changing lessons now?

When you think of the word “significance,” what comes into your mind? Do you equate significance with self-worth? Pleasing your figures of authority? Money? Wealth? A thriving career?

    Tech pumps

One of the biggest things I’m raving about here in the USA are those tech gas pumps.  You know what I’d mean if I say their pretty secure, fast and easy to use.  I remember in Asia when I’d pull into a gas station how I’d hand over my credit card to a gas attendant [...]

Got The Blues? Get Some Hues!

Did you know that sales figures show (consistently) that during a bad economic period, more cosmetic products are sold than usual? These figures also show that after a tragedy occurs in an area, sales also increase.
What can we gather from this information? Just as Leonard Lauder said, tough times equate to a higher [...]

We’re right smack in the middle of the Winter Olympics. Have your kids gotten into the spirit of it all yet?
