Last week, I discussed my primitivo royale writer’s tools to maximize time. Now here is my concept survival kit, because I have yet to purchase any of these, because I had to fill my room with essentials first. I believe that the tech-savvy writer has to have the best tools of the trade in order to do his or her job excellently. These tools, these gadgets do not have to be the top-of-the-line branded stuff, but as long as they: are sturdy, durable, and will last you at least two years deliver decent to great output serve their purpose and more.. ..then they are top-notch in my book. More so if they are as hot as this baby that I deem essential to my career, and am actually aiming to get. I believe that a writer/blogger, when offline, has to have these essentials
If there's anything I learned in my a few weeks in excess of a year of working online, it's that the Internet is very viral for advertising. You only need to look to the high school kid's favorite website: MySpace or Friendster, and you have your Ad Agency in a can.
This piece of news will be welcomed by students all over the country. The DTI has recently awarded 52 million to a number of universities under the third round of the Higher Education Innovation Fund or HEIF. The goal of the awards is to aid in building closer ties between business and institutions that offer higher education. Small businesses seem to be taking a lot of unnecessary hits of late, and they are already feeling the effects of this “injustice.” It seems the government is not yet content with just hitting businesses with an endless list of legislation and then tying them up with red tape. Now it looks like small business employers will be forced to make contributions to a new National Pensions Savings Scheme or NPSS. An employee can decide not to participate in the NPSS but with the sheer apathy of most employees it is believed that most will choose to remain ...
Based on what a group of business leaders have discussed in a recent gathering, a comprehensive reform in the tax system is the most effective solution to the problem of tax avoidance. According to a recently conducted comprehensive study on tax avoidance, the Institute of Directors (IoD) has signified its advocacy for the redesign of the entire tax system in order to remove the current artificial boundaries between things that are considered as close commercial substitutes. The employers’ organisation has been insisting that a swift action on the problem is absolutely needed what with taxpayers getting more and ...
There seems to be a dearth of good, competent staff for small and medium sized businesses across the UK who are looking for people to fill important positions in these companies. In fact, 172,000 businesses have reported that they have not received any kind of applications for some of the job vacancies. This shortage presents a good opportunity for many recruitment agencies who can possibly help fill these vacancies. Although a skills shortage among the applying job candidates can still be considered as a tough issue, more often than not the difficulties arise from the ...
A pressure group is strongly urging the government to finally remove the big headache posed by confusing and time consuming tax returns. According to the Forum of Private Business (FPB), through its Chief Executive Nick Goulding, “It’s time to make tax returns less taxing. Our research shows that small business is left spending valuable time completing forms that they find confusing and over-complicated.” Goulding asserts that it is clear that not enough effort is being done in order to give assistance to small businesses in trying to understand what their role and responsibilities are when it comes to filing ...
Business process offshoring, or also called outsourcing, is just another economic concept business people are expected to be in the know of. This trend in how companies produce goods or services has existed since decades gone by, but it’s only now that it’s in the limelight, because of increasing pressure from some sectors of western society for companies to stop trading goods and services with developing countries with lower labour costs. It is argued that the presence of low cost workers in other countries, along with cheap shipping costs, is killing local companies and putting locals out of ...
One big issue in the workplace these days is attaining balance between work and family life. And this goes not only for employees and rank-and-file staff, but also for management and company executives. In most cases, it doesn’t really make much of a difference whether one is in a large company, or running a small business. Companies have come to realize that they have to work out schemes by which employees can balance their careers with their personal lives. At first, it may not be clear enough, but after a closer look, it rings true that the best employee is ...
Are you being compensated for the hours of input you put into an endeavor or into your work? Or if you’re an employer or a client, do you pay your company's staff according to time spent at the office or in the field? If you think this is the best way to keep your business profitable (minimizing the human resource costs), productivity experts would tell you otherwise. Smart entrepreneurs look for smart ideas, and are willing to compensate people for those ideas. It is better to pay—and be paid—according to the value of one’s output rather than inputs. For the ...
