Saving on Kid’s cereals

425cereal You wouldn't miss breakfast for sure, first meal of the day and if you've got kids, ah, for sure you'd sit by them and have a few spoonful yourself.  America's famous breakfast, easy to make, and honestly quite nutritious.  Now in case you're juggling the budget and you feel breakfast needs to take a little backseat... fear not, you can still serve it up. You gotta know a few tricks groceries make to keep the equally delicious and nutritious brands away from your basket.  Remember this... groceries put the most expensive cereal boxes ...

Check the papers

Let me give you a quick holiday tip.  It's about 2 weeks before Christmas and you all who LOVE to do the holiday rush resulting in higher blood pressure... do yourself a favor this time and let your fingers do the walking.  ALL stores these days print out holiday sale coupons and full blown brochure ads on national and local papers and magazine.  You'd do yourself a real favor if you start collecting these, because just like the Black Friday sale, stores would like you to come to them to shop for everything with ...

Coupons… everywhere!

Currently in central US to visit friends and relatives from this side of the States.  One thing I've noticed is that their mailbox is no different from ours back home.  It is also full of "junk mail" and mail that nearby stores, restaurants and specialty shops send.  What would we do without shopping coupons! :) I like the fact that it does save money for the home.  Some even going as far as 40% off the list price.  Not a bad idea to get those scissors out and start cutting away what's interesting. It does require time ...

Before taking off to the grocery this week, read on.  Most, if not all, grocery/shops put the cheaper options at the bottom of the shelf.  The more expensive ones, or the ones where the most mark-up is, is at eye-level... within your quick notice and easy access.  Manufacturers invest on these prime eye-level spots because they know a lot of people do not look down for a bargain.  Notice that the big names have blocked in those prime spots the whole year thru. The percentage difference may not be that noticable, but a 20 cents ...

With global unemployment on the rise, economy on the down spiral trend and lifestyle just pushing you way up the comfort level, people are now trying to be very careful at choosing the right career.  It is wise to begin with the end in mind, but most of us need to be guided in choosing the right career for us.  There are just too many myths that try to blur fact from fiction.  Well meaning friends and relatives would be the most likely source.  Let me tell you what the top ten myths are ...

The Java Log

I think nothing says "Go Green" more than a product that saves the greens we have left on earth.  I've seen this JavaLog while watching Discovery Channel tonight.  I am very impressed.  This product alone must have saved millions of acres of trees.  Sure, everyone needs to warm up and enjoy the crackling fire by the fireplace during chippy winter nights.  One just needs to remind himself that everytime he throws a 5 lbs. log into the fire, it contributes to the environment... whatever left we have of it. Java-Log is the most innovative, funky new fireplace ...

Just this Monday, I posted on why we all need to rest. Now my tips for staying at peak performance include: Have a rest day. Whether you’re Jewish, Christian, Moslem, Buddhist, Baha’i, Agnostic, or an Atheist, set a rest day where you can recharge and renew your energies. On that day, turn off your computer. Set aside everything that resembles your paperwork, even post-its. Grab a non-business or work-related book, a feel-good book, a feel-good DVD that doesn’t require you to think, and just relax.

Finally, I’m starting my workweek! After an entire week of downtime, virtually doing NOTHING and feeling worthless, I’m only too glad to be making money err, working again. Speaking of feeling worthless and for what it’s worth for women who love to multi-task, I’m listing here what I think I should do, and what I believe are essential for staying in tip-top shape, productivity-wise. I believe that productivity is not a matter of pushing yourself to the limit. Rather, it’s a matter of getting that work-life balance thing down pat.

An assignment recently got me interested in something called the Law of Reciprocity. No—this is not Physics class or any other Science-related course. The Law of Reciprocity actually goes by many names. Others call it an emotional bank account. One of my favorite writers of all time, Paulo Coelho, describes it as the favor bank. But what exactly is this Law of Reciprocity, you ask? This law goes far back as early as kindergarten for most people. It’s the “I’ll be your friend if you’ll be mine” strategy (How crafty kids can be…!). And for others, it transcends into ...

A study by the Economist Intelligence Unit came out with the conclusion that mid-size businesses in the UK are feeling left out and overlooked by Government, despite their disproportionate contributions to business revenue, compared to larger firms. While in the UK, 2% of firms are classified as mid-size, these account for 14% of job-provision and 16% of corporate revenue. The comparison is not as stark as that of the US, with mid-size companies comprising 1% of the total number, but contribute 30% of corporate revenue, but still, mid-size companies in the country are feeling the brunt of globalisation—and that Government is ...

    Tech pumps

One of the biggest things I’m raving about here in the USA are those tech gas pumps.  You know what I’d mean if I say their pretty secure, fast and easy to use.  I remember in Asia when I’d pull into a gas station how I’d hand over my credit card to a gas attendant [...]

Got The Blues? Get Some Hues!

Did you know that sales figures show (consistently) that during a bad economic period, more cosmetic products are sold than usual? These figures also show that after a tragedy occurs in an area, sales also increase.

We’re right smack in the middle of the Winter Olympics. Have your kids gotten into the spirit of it all yet?
