The last thing anyone feels like doing when angry is to handle things the smart way. Anger is such a powerful emotion that it usually makes us acts in ways that we never would otherwise behave. It is also so consuming that letting go of the feeling is something unthinkable to some, and something that just takes way too much effort to most. So being realistic about it, there is almost no way of dealing with anger the smart way at the very moment you are angry.
What this calls for then is taking the steps to ensure that you can deal with anger the best you can BEFORE you get mad. This does not mean not getting mad at all, because you eventually would. What this means is setting yourself with tools so that you can get past the anger as quickly as possible and concentrate on the cause.
One thing you can do to deal with anger the smart way is by realizing that anger exists to mask some other emotion. Usually the emotion is pain, hurt, pride, envy, frustration, or some other negative feeling we all would rather not face. If you recognize this fact and resolve to face the emotion fueling the anger, you’d be better able to psych yourself out of the anger knowing that you can do something to fix the root of the problem.
Another thing you can do is to have an action plan to release the anger in a non-violent way. If you feel yourself getting angry, leave at once and shout, or run, or do something that will help distract you from the anger. When you do calm down enough, face the real issue and try to resolve it.
While not a full proof plan, doing the two steps above is still much smarter than bottling it all up until you blow.

Puzzled over their predicament, they end up working longer hours to make even more money, not [...]

Reconciliations heal the soul. Strife and tension never was anyone’s cup of tea. I know that most people seem to be able to stand decades of their lifetimes bitter, angry, and unforgiving of the people who have hurt them, but I am of the belief that unforgiveness and anger should never be the hallmark of [...]
With a newborn son whose life I’m projecting way into the future, I’ve been thinking a lot about college lately. In the United States, going to college is the social norm. Everyone goes to college (pretty much). But should they? Let me point to three reasons why college is no longer necessary for success. 1. [...]
