Although I’m not really a big fan of Will Smith I still like the guy enough to watch his movies (except for the atrocious Bad Boys 2, of course). I think he’s been quite good in choosing projects that would actually fit his star persona.
Take for example, his upcoming superhero movie, Hancock. This movie may be a superhero vehicle but it’s one with a definite edge. It’s a comedy about a superhero that needs an image makeover because he is one surly guy. Jason Bateman plays the role of the PR agent who tries to help him. The premise of the movie is quite ingenious especially when you place it within the context of all the very “serious” superhero movies that have been coming out in the last few years. This is also one role that Will Smith would actually look good in. He chose a perfect vehicle to showcase his comedic talents while at the same time still looking good for the ladies.
Hancock will be shown July 2008.
