Entourage gets one last season
HBO has announced that Entourage, the pay-cable network’s longest-running show, will be ending after its eighth and final season. The show is currently filming season seven, and HBO has negotiated with Entourage creator Doug Ellin for a shortened eighth season, which will likely comprise about six episodes.
There’s also talk of a film to follow the series, a la Sex In the City, but nothing is official yet. Meanwhile, HBO president of programming Michael Lombardo tells The Hollywood Reporter that he expects his network to sign Ellin for a brand new show of his own creation in the next few years.
Entourage Premiere Episode
Guess what I just managed to miss? The season premiere of ENTOURAGE! Argh. Of course, I will be making sure I get to see it not only because I want too but because it seems that going from everyone elseās reactions this season is going to be great. Hereās what people have to say about the season six premiere episode āDriveā
The wait is finally over and the boys of Entourage came roaring back for the sixth season premiere tonight on HBO. This episode had it all: classic Johnny Drama lines, the guys giving E a hard time, Ari treating Lloyd like his lap dog and some Vinnie sexual escapades. Throw in some great naturalistic dialogue and superb editing and this season looks like one hell of a ride. – Janaki Cedanna of TVFodder
Overall, it was nice to see the boys doing well, and finally branching out of their own inner circle. ā Allysa Lee of LA Times
Everything we knew about Entourage finally seems to be evolving. Some of it’s logical and some of it’s forced so that the story progresses, but all of it makes sense. Entourage was due for an overhaul if you think about it, and what could be more perfect than seeing what life is like for the guys when they aren’t constantly worrying about Vince’s career? ā Jonathan Toomey of TV Squad
A better than expected “Entourage” premiere tonight has proved inspirationalā¦I guess if a mediocre falling star can get the lead in the film version of one of our most beloved books, directed by one of our most beloved directors, then anything can happen. Welcome back, fantasy world of “Entourage.” You’ve been missed. ā Mark Schultz of Detroit TV Examiner
Gary Cole now on Entourage
Gary Cole, who incidentally is one of my favorite actors, has been signed on to become the latest addition to Entourage.
Cole will be playing Ari Gold’s oldest friend. Cole’s character will be introduced to viewers through a three-episode arc that will air this November.
Can’t wait!
A star is born
Olympic gold medallist Michael Phelps may have found himself another career… in showbiz. After his successful cameo in Entourage, the crew says they want him back — permanently.
Pretty cool since his appearance was accidental. Doug Ellin, the show’s creator and executive producer, said the swimmer happened to walk by while they were shooting a scene. “It was the coolest thing in the world. When he showed up, I’m not exaggerating, city buses stopped and people started yelling and within five minutes we couldn’t even shoot.”
