3G (third-generation) mobile phone service provider 3 is paying people to talk and text. In a move to attract new customers, and to increase usage among current subscribers, 3 is rewarding pay-as-you-go users with cash credit of 5p every minute of incoming voice calls and 3p for every SMS received.
Dubbed “WePay,” the service is open to new and existing prepaid 3 customers. Rewards can be claimed as credits when topping up or purchasing any of 3 services, such as buying music tracks and video.
Having faced financial difficulty in the past year, the mobile company is geared up for increasing its share in a very fickle PAYG market. A Continental Research study finds that 66% of the UK’s mobile market is on prepaid, and number portability laws makes the competition among networks intense, as users can choose to switch across networks while retaining their original mobile number. Hence, providers are constantly on their toes in finding ways to attract—and keep—customers.
Company formation and business solutions experts welcome innovations in mobile telephony, taking into consideration the benefits of having reliable and speedy communications for mission-critical business applications.
