Netapp is the No. 1 employer in the USA today unseating quite a handful of popular employers including Google (No. 1 for the last 4 years). Do take note though that the title implies NetApp as a great employer, not a company who is on the top spot for business success and leadership.
I read an article yesterday explaining why NetApp has kept the top spot. And it would seem that “cultural sensitivity” has been a prime reason. Makes sense. If a company knows how to treat you and make you happy… you’d be… happy.
And you’d need all the sensitivity you can get in these trying times. Try getting a pay cut from a sour-faced boss and you’d just end up being more sour than him I’m sure. 🙂 But say you get a pay-cut with a shoulder tap PLUS encouraging words that would mean “we’re just going through tough times right now, let’s do some cost cutting together you and I.” I’m sure you’d do it even if you’ve got bills piled up at home.
Other companies may well follow what NetApp is doing.
