I’ve read at iVillage that summer is the most dangerous time of the year. I’m still dumbfounded by the info that 2,000 kids DIE during summertime, caused by injuries (that could have been avoided) from summer events. Crazy isn’t it? Sad, but true!
That is why parents (like us) should take that extra pre-cautionary step in securing every summer activity. We have to take into account safety issues. As they always say “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. Believe you me… a hospital’s emergency room should be the last place you want to end up in.
The iVillage article categorized safety areas we all need to be aware of, I would suggest that we read the article thru and thru. Let me give you a short peek at the categories, notice that it is mostly related to environments where “summer” is happening:
- Safety on the road
- Water safety
- Bicycle safety
- Safety from the sun
- Saftey from fireworks
- Safety in carnivals and parks
It wouldn’t hurt if we are a little extra careful with what we do this summer. While we take every effort in making sure it is fun and memorable for everyone, it should also be SAFE for everyone as well.
