This is a cute note from DL Stewart (an author and a syndicated columnist from Ohio) regarding “Why father hide their feelings”. This was written just after his son was appreciating him for being such a skilled speaker. “You always know what to do, dad, and what to say to people.” DL Stewart, after thanking his son, said that he’s not really that great, I’m just as human as you are, boy. When I face a crowd of thousands, you see me standing proud and tall, a notable speaker, well loved and sought after. Truth is, I’m as scared as the next guy who leaps off to bungy jump. I really am. And when you’re old and have your own fair share of success, you too will feel the same way. When you’re about to speak and are scared off your socks, stand proud and tall. Scared, yes, but just do it. Know the fact that nobody else knows you are scared, but me. And I’ll be the proudest dad of all.
Father’s day has just passed but it doesn’t hurt to throw a bone to appreciate this great human being for all the wonderful things he’s done for us, his children. 🙂
