A client today asked me to help him deploy one of his home computers in his office. I said, “ummm… ok”, thinking that it was just a straightforward hook-up from his home network to his office network. Ah, but I had a fun time coming.
I booted the machine and behold… Windows ’98! I haven’t touched this operating system for the past 5 years, glad I did now really. With it, memories of my first cubicle job in a programming firm. I would marvel at how Windows ’98 was soooo better than Windows ’95. And chuckled lightly at some of my office buddies who are still working with the ’95 version.
Right now, I’m defraging his drive… after uninstalling a whole lot of arcade games! This must have been his kids home computer. Lucky brats have gotten a new PC for Christmas. All with the Vista trimmings of course.
Anyway, thanks for the memories my friend. Next job to do… installing anti-virus, then hook this baby up to some wireless juice for some needed freeware downloads.
