Wazzup World!

Why they’re looking for new Earths

You know why astronomers have been intensifying their search for Earth-like planets?

They’ve actually succeeded in finding a couple of such planets – with possible oceans that could support life — but they’re almost at the edge of the universe and even Superman could suffer from cramps going there!

Global warming - 1

Now here’s the reason for the frantic search for new worlds: Ours is about to fry. The culprit, of course, is the man-made problem called global warming.

On Monday, a British-based group warned that at least one billion people risk fleeing their homes over the next four decades because of conflicts and natural disasters that will worsen with global warming.

In a report, British-based Christian Aid said countries worldwide, especially the poorest, are now facing the greatest forced migration ever — one that will dwarf those displaced by World War II.

While the figure is already “staggeringly high,” the report warned that “in future, climate change will push it even higher.

No, Virginia, putting ice on your head won’t solve global warming!

They’re rocking Rome!

Right at the heart of Roman Catholicism, gays and lesbians are challenging the foundation of the Christian faith by seeking greater rights for them, including homosexual marriages.

But of course the conservatives in Italy just won’t lie down and let the Third Sex have their way.

Bush on gayhood

Over the weekend hundreds of thousands of Italians rallied at a Rome church square to protest against a proposed law that would give greater rights to unmarried couples, including gays and lesbians.

The draft legislation, which requires parliamentary approval, has divided Italy’s ruling coalition, angered the powerful Roman Catholic church and stirred passionate debate.

Waving banners and dancing to tambourines and trumpets, more than 500,000 people poured into the square outside Rome’s St. John in Lateran cathedral to support traditional family values based on marriage between a man and a woman.

“The family is in danger because the more freedom and options you allow in creating other unions outside the natural family made of a husband and a wife with children, the more society itself dissolves,” said one participant, William Bergamini.

Gays are dissolving societies? If it’s a spot of dirt in society they’re dissolving – and there are lots of dirty splotches in society nowadays — I guess it’s alright. What do you think?
