Egypt wants national treasure back

March 22, 2009 By Jim

This is a rightful request for Egypt to appeal that a national be brought back to its possession.  The picture that you see is that of a “3,000-year-old wooden coffin illegally smuggled out of Egypt more than a century ago. Egypt’s chief archaeologist said Sunday, March 22, 2009, that an official request will soon be filed with U.S. authorities to return the wooden coffin which belonged to a member of the 21st Dynasty, which ruled over Egypt from 1081-931 B.C.”.

It seems this treasure is quite a catch to its current “owners”, but the real owners wants it back.  “Importance to culture”, that is what the call is about.  There’s no doubt that the artifact is indeed of Egyptian influence.  It is of Pharaoh Ames of the 21st Dynasty.

Somehow I get the feeling of Brandon Fraser having a hand on its possible recovery. If you love his movie “The Mummy”, it looks like a project only he can undertake.
