The Blood Diamond cast appeared today on the Oprah Winfrey Show. This movie, centered around diamond trade in African countries that at times erupt in violence, is set to be released today in movie theaters worldwide. Actors Leonardo DiCaprio & Djimon Hounsou joined director David Zwick on the Oprah Winfery Show to talk about the film.
Zwick said the movie & screenplay are fictional, but come from real life experiences, saying, “When you think of South Africa, the important thing that comes about is to tell the truth to prevent what happened from happening again.”
Leonardo DiCaprio warns us to be conscious of where our diamonds are coming from as he stated, “It is very symbolic what we as consumers do. We live our lives, buy products and don’t think about where it comes from.”
To which director Zwick interjected, “You can sit there (or) you can say ‘I want to see a warranty’ and a certificate to make a difference and effect thousands of lives.”
I have a feeling this is not a hold hands & make out kind of movie. Are you getting that same feeling as well?
You tell me- Is this movie going to make us change we buy diamonds?
