Conan Offers Early Preview Online

October 29, 2010 By Marie F

Conan O’Brien continues his experiments with various forms of media to promote his upcoming show on TBS. On the heels of his 24-hour “Live Coco Cam” webcast last week, Conan’s crew is putting together “Show Zero,” a sort of dress rehearsal for the new show that’s airing online a week ahead of the show’s launch.

Conan debuts on Monday, November 8th, but “Show Zero” will be webcast on TeamCoco.com, YouTube, and Facebook, on Monday, November 1st at 11:pm EST / 8:pm PST. Conan will host, with help from Andy Richter and his new “Basic Cable Band.” The preview show will also feature some surprise celebrity guests. 🙂

When Zombies Attack!

October 26, 2010 By Marie F

Zombies are appearing in major cities around the world.

Yesterday, AMC and Fox International kicked off a massive viral stunt in support of the upcoming series The Walking Dead. A wave of zombies first popped up at dawn in Taipei and Hong Kong. From there, the zombie “outbreaks” spread westward, simulating the way a real zombie infection might spread, and will continue to do so until the show’s L.A. premiere.

The hundreds of zombies used during these outbreaks are being birthed using authentic prosthetic makeup designed by The Walking Dead‘s makeup artist, Greg Nicotero. In addition to the two cities mentioned above, the outbreaks have already hit Rome, Mexico City, Santiago, Istanbul, Athens, Johannesburg, Munich, London (pictured above), and Madrid.

A total of 26 cities are planned in all, and still to come are Sofia (Bulgaria), Estonia (Tallinn), Belgrade (Serbia), Lisbon, Sao Paolo, Buenos Aires, Caracas (Venezuela), Bogota, Guatemala City, and in the United States, zombies will visit New York City, Washington DC, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, and finally Los Angeles.

The Walking Dead premieres this Sunday on AMC.

Animated Napoleon Dynamite Coming to Fox

October 13, 2010 By Marie F

Cult hit comedy Napoleon Dynamite is coming to Fox — in animated form — and the entire original cast, including star Jon Heder, are providing the voices.

Six episodes of the show have been ordered so far, with more contingent on ratings. The look and feel of the characters reminds me of King of the Hill, another comedy set in rural America, but the animation duties are actually being handled by Rough Draft Studios, which has worked on Futurama, The Simpsons, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Comedy Central’s Drawn Together, among others.

Conan & Foursquare Team Up With Flying Blimp

October 11, 2010 By Marie F

We are just weeks away from Conan O’Brien‘s return to late night television with his new show on TBS, which debuts November 8th. Team Coco and Foursquare have teamed up to create an eye-catching promotion that will build excitement for the new show: a blimp.

The huge, orange blimp is flying over the east coast during October, and fans are encouraged to check in with Foursquare when they see it in person, which unlocks a special “Conan Blimp” badge created just for this promotion. You can track its movements via a live map and blimpcam at the Conan Blimp website, or follow its updates on Twitter.

Syfy Renews ‘Warehouse 13’

October 6, 2010 By Marie F

The most-watched show in Syfy history, Warehouse 13, has unsurprisingly landed an official pickup order for its third season. Season 3 will be comprised of thirteen episodes, and will be overseen by current showrunner Jack Kenny, who’s signed a development deal with Syfy for more new properties.

Warehouse 13 scored 3.4 million viewers in its second season on average, with 1.5 million viewers in the all-important 18-49 demographic. The third season will air sometime in 2011.
