4 Richest Female Talk Show Hosts on U.S. Television

May 21, 2016 By Marie F

Talks shows on television attract a wide audience worldwide. Those hosted by just one witty individual, whether male or female, normally gain a lot of viewers. And so American TV, for example, has produced quite a number of popular talk show hosts who have also made millions of dollars. These include Larry King, Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel, Martha Stewart, Oprah Winfrey, Rachel Ray and Ellen DeGeneres, among others.

These talk show hosts earn big and became millionaires through time. To date, many female hosts have invaded the boob tube. Their common characteristics? They’re witty, bubbly and have a gift of gab that can hook the audience to every word that comes from their mouth. And they’re just so good in entertaining their guests whatever age they may be. Rosie returning to daytime TV

August 9, 2010 By Marie F

Rosie O’Donnell — the one-time “Queen of Nice” on daytime TV — is returning to host her own daily talk show again in 2011. Only this time, she’s working for her biggest rival from back in the day.

Oprah Winfrey has hired Rosie to host a daily chat program on OWN — the Oprah Winfrey Network — which premieres in January. The hour-long show will be filmed in New York, and OWN describes it as “a fun, uplifting show with Ms. O’Donnell‘s playful and energetic style.” (Which translates as: they haven’t decided on the format of the show yet.)

It’s unknown if Rosie’s show will debut in January or sometime later in the year. The show is currently untitled.

Oprah announces her Next Chapter

April 12, 2010 By Marie F

To the surprise of no one at all, Oprah Winfrey isn’t leaving television when her daily talk show ends next year.

Instead, she’ll be redirecting her efforts 100% towards her new cable channel, the Oprah Winfrey Network, where she’ll produce and appear on a number of original shows. She’ll be hosting her own new OWN show, entitled Oprah’s Next Chapter, which finds her traveling around the world to faraway places like Egypt and China to have “more riveting conversations with the people we all want to hear from.” Next Chapter is expected to be an hour-long show, airing 2 or 3 times a week in prime time.

Oprah will also be a part of Your OWN Show: Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star, where she’ll serve as a judge on an American Idol-type search for the next great talk show host.

The rest of OWN’s roster is made up of shows seemingly tailored around Oprah’s personal friends and the top names on her rolodex, such as Gail King, Lisa Ling, Shania Twain, and more.

Anybody else remember that interview she did with Jay Leno after all the Leno/Conan hubbub, where he was certain she would keep doing a show of some kind, even after The Oprah Winfrey Show ends, and she swore up and down that she wasn’t doing another talk show? I’m not a big Leno fan, but it looks like he was spot-on about Oprah.

Oprah gets her own TV network

January 16, 2008 By Marie F

Oprah Winfrey will be getting her own TV network
— a deal she made with Discovery. The programming will center on issues like money, health, weight, relationships and raising children.

The offer from Discovery came days after she reread an old diary entry dated May 24, 1992, when she wrote about her idea for creating her own network.
