Rosie returning to daytime TV

March 9, 2023 By Marie F

Rosie O’Donnell — the one-time “Queen of Nice” on daytime TV — is returning to hostĀ her own daily talk show again in 2011. Only this time, she’s working for her biggest rival from back in the day.

Oprah Winfrey has hired Rosie to host a daily chat program on OWN — the Oprah Winfrey Network — which premieres in January. The hour-long show will be filmed in New York, and OWN describes it as “a fun, uplifting show with Ms. O’Donnell‘s playful and energetic style.” (Which translates as: they haven’t decided on the format of the show yet.)

It’s unknown if Rosie’s show will debut in January or sometime later in the year. The show is currently untitled.

Rosie hires Danny Noriega

Danny Noriega may have lost all hopes of winning American Idol,
but his singing career may have just begun. He’s already gotten a job offer, and from Rosie O’Donnell no less.

Rosie offered him a free cruise to Mexico on O’Donell’s R Family Vacations…and a job.

ā€œI don’t know if you have to sit around the American Idol studio and look sad for the next few weeks — because I think that’s part of the contract,ā€ joked O’Donnell. ā€œCome on there, and I want you to sing ā€˜Tainted Love.’ I think you’re fantastic. And I think you’re a bold and brave and beautiful young man. And I admire you, Danny Noriega. You have an amazing voice. And your hair looks good straight.ā€

Rosie spills the secret

Rosie the big mouth

Surprise, surprise. Rosie O’Donnell actually kept her mouth shut — but hinted at plans to host a prime time show with MSNBC.

“We’re filming for an unidentified TV station, which I was told that I was not allowed to mention.”

That was probably more than the TV station even wanted her to say, but O’Donnell has never been known for her restraint. But something put the fear of God in her — or the fear of losing her contract. “They told me not to mention this possible show, and they are men in business suits. Nothing is scarier than men in business suits screaming at you over the phone.”
