Secret Circle, based on another series of novels by The Vampire Diaries author L.J. Smith, has gotten a pilot order from The CW as a potential new hour-long drama. Vampire Diaries showrunner Kevin Williamson will executive produce the pilot, having also co-written the script with Andrew Miller. The duo will executive produce with writing partners Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain (The Shield, Dollhouse, Lie to Me), and Leslie Morganstein (Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars) and Gina Girolamo.

Secret Circle is a trilogy of books about teenager Cassie who moves to New Salem and discovers that she’s a witch and part of a powerful coven, and she may hold the keys to settling an age-old battle between good and evil.
