Vin Diesel is probably realizing that walking away from movies that could be strong franchises was a big mistake.
After going back to Fast and The Furious, he is now in talks to return for the XXX sequel. Variety reports that Diesel is in talks to star in XXX: The Return of Xander Cage and original XXX director Rob Cohen may also come back.
Revolution Studios, which owns the XXX property, made the XXX sequel with Ice Cube and director Lee Tamahori. It is reported that Diesel and Cohen are quite certain to return. What needs to be discussed, really, is how to bring Xander Cage back to life as he was killed off in the XXX sequel.
Diesel talks about Riddick sequels
Four years after The Chronicles of Riddick, details about a new Riddick movie are finally coming out.
In an interview, Vin Diesel revealed that the possibility of getting two sequels to Riddick is there. He said that David Twohy is already writing the script for the two movies and they are considering doing the Lord of The Rings route and filming both at the same time.
Of course, that’s a method of actually saving up on funds. The possibility of getting the sequels done had been quite low because TCoR was not well received and only made $115 million out of a $100 million budget. I love the two Riddick movies though and I really hope that the other two sequels will be made.
He now thinks there will be two.
“David Twowy right now is writing the scripts. The only question is whether we take a page from the ‘Lord of the Rings’ guys and try to shoot the two chapters at the same time. There are two more in mind,” he said of Riddick, the Furyan warrior first introduced in the 2000 film “Pitch Black.” “‘The Chronicles of Riddick’ was presented as a three part trilogy that would answer ‘Pitch Black’ in the same way that ‘Lord of the Rings’ answered ‘The Hobbit.’”
Those are lofty goals indeed for a movie that was very poorly received when it opened in 2004, and had a mediocre performance at the domestic box-office (where it made just $57 million). Diesel, though, is undaunted, insisting that the long space between sequels has nothing to do with convincing others to get on board, and everything to do with wanting to get it right. (To be fair, “Riddick” performed well overseas, and also spawned a best-selling video game which many considered to be better than the movie.)
“Everyone knows I love the Riddick character and I’m always working on it,” Diesel asserted. “It just takes five years to make another one because David Twohy and I are so precious about it.”
Anticipation Growing for Fast and Furious 7
With the full trailer of the Fast and Furious 7 already out, many avid fans of the cast are eagerly awaiting the movie’s release this coming April 3. Compared to the period before the release of each FF film in the past, the anticipation today is perhaps greater owing to the fact that this is Paul Walker’s last film and movie fans would like to see him alive and in action once more at least in this production.
The official trailer was released late last year but a new teaser trailer is out featuring the car chase scene with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. This should give fans an idea of the amazing stunts they can expect in the upcoming movie.
Fast and Furious 7 will revolve around the villain’s pursuit for revenge over his brother’s death. It will still feature Diesel together with the regular cast Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Ludacris. The main villain here this time is Jason Statham who made a brief appearance in the 2013 film. New faces in ths seventh sequel include Kurt Russell, Ronda Rousey of the Expendables 3 and Djimon Hounsou of Blood Diamond. [Read more…]
