The National Audit Office has stressed that with millions of people not having competencies in basic literacy, numeracy and language skills, companies must now focus on providing low-level training.
According to the NAO many offices pay more attention to A-level standard instruction which is often considered as too high.
The office’s report also said that employers are usually more reluctant to fund workers or even release them for basic skills training because employers expect most people to become proficient in literacy and numeracy before leaving school.
Company formation and business solutions experts are asking the government to give incentives to firms to encourage them to get involved in employee training as well as set up channels that will influence the education process.
