A Nightmare on Elm Street #1

October 6, 2006 By Spengs

“Freddy’s War part 1”.  A new series by Wildstorm (Avatar having lost the rights to the series) and a mediocre effort by Chuck Dixon at the very best.  You can tell from the pacing and the dialogue that he isn’t taking this book seriously.  Everything is terribly rushed, I feel nothing for the characters.  Their reactions are unnatural (particularly the father’s) and their dialogue reads like something a middle schooler would write (“Isoceles ya later”…?).  It’s obvious Chuck Dixon thinks this is “just another licensed title” and therefore not worthy of his concentrated effort.  I hope Wildstorm’s other New Line Cinema horror titles (Friday the 13th and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre) aren’t this bad.
