Was it worth the (incredibly long) wait? Yeah, I guess. Though these issues read extremely quickly; within a handful of minutes. Still, it’s almost worth it for Joss Whedon’s hilarious dialogue and iron-fisted grip on the characters, their quirks and origins. This issue has a heavy focus on Kitty Pryde and her usefulness all by herself. Indeed, she has truly grown up. Her fight with Emma Frost was magnificently satisfying. The new Hellfire Club are proving to be very cool, and the big-reveal of the shrouded member is yet another classic moment for the series (I swear, they have one per issue). I especially loved Kitty’s reaction. You’ve also got plotlines from the very first arc finally tying up, with the mutant destined to destroy the Breakworld revealed at last. A great issue and a great series, maybe that’s why the long-waits between issues feel so painful.
