G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers: the Art of War #4

February 28, 2023 By Spengs

When this series started it seemed like nothing but endless fanwank and bad story-telling.  It’s come a long way in four issues and has improved beyond all expectations.  The Joes are finally getting to do something, as this arc has mostly been a focus on the Transformers.  The art from Udon is as gorgeous as expected and getting better with every issue (though the Predaking cover is pretty bad when you look at the anatomy).  Serpent O.R. is finally getting a bit more character-development as well.  I actually like this version of the character over the original Serpentor, who was just a lame plot device that cast Cobra Commander into the role of second banana and just pissed me off.  So this book, despite some cruddy dialogue and romance and a very goofy plot, is really worth reading if you can switch your brain off and read a book for the action sequences and pretty art alone.
