G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers: the Art of War #5

August 31, 2006 By Spengs

The finale of the miniseries and a rather pleasant conclusion, I must admit.  This entire series has been nothing but gratuitous, shameless fanwank, and well, some times I just need that to get me through the day.  This issue almost went overboard on the nods, with references to Go-Bots, Cobra-La, G.I. Joe Extreme and “Arise, Serpentor, Arise”.  I’ll admit, I got a nice kick out of it.  The ending seemed a bit rushed but the overall story introduced a few concepts that many fans have wanted to see, like a human interfacing with the Matrix.  Arcee is still royally annoying, though.  Overall, it’s not the best volume in the recent G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers saga, but not a bad one, either.  You’ve just gotta take it for what it is.
