Sonic the Hedgehog #168

November 8, 2006 By Spengs

Whew!  I don’t think I’ve ever read a single comic book with as many editor’s notes as this one issue.  I suppose it goes to show you how long they’ve been working up to this story, the Anonymous Conspiracy was set in motion YEARS ago.  Well, Anonymous’ plan has been revealed and Dr. Robotnik is helpless to do anything about it.  Tommy, a rather forgettable character from the past fews years, gets a slick make-over as Anonymous’ new host body.  I wouldn’t recommend newcomers to jump in with this issue, though.  My god, the notes and references are staggering.  The back-up story spotlights Antoine and Bunnie and *finally* follows up on Antoine’s return from so many issues ago.  It’s a sad story, as it deals with the death of Antoine’s father, but at the same time, it adresses Antoine’s considerable change in character over the years.  One of the few times I ever really enjoyed an Antoine-centric story.
