Tales of the TMNT (2nd series) #24

June 30, 2006 By Spengs

“Rock of Ages”.  Typically, the best issue of Tales of the TMNT are the issues that Jim Lawson DOESN’T draw.  Thankfully, this is one of those issues.  The story in this episode is that a bunch of tunnel-workers in New York City happen across a giant metal rock.  The rock morphs and splits into two robots.  The tunnel workers and the National Guard quickly attack the robots, but can’t seem to defeat them.  Mike and Raph have to figure out a way to get the robots to calm down, especially since they can’t fight them.  Not much Ninja Turtle action in this issue, but that’s sorta the point; a non-violent resolution.  The story-itself seems more like a set-up for future installments or story aspects (Tales is known for this) rather than a single engaging episode.  Overall, it was fun, but not an entirely remarkable issue.
