Transformers: the Animated Movie #1

October 25, 2006 By Spengs

A straight rehash of a movie I’ve seen a milliong times before, but I knew that long before I bought the book.  The real attraction here is seeing the events from the movie realised in Don Figueroa’s gorgeous artwork.  And the art is damn pretty.  The dialogue has been reworked by Bob Budianski, author of the original Marvel Transformers comic, who also adds a narrative to the events.  The dialogue reworking is a bit pointless, as it doesn’t add anything new and really just changes a few words here and there.  My only major complain with this book is that the letterer is incompetant.  On numerous occasions, characters have the wrong dialogue boxes, even when someone is saying their NAME.  Perceptor has the line “In other words, Perceptor?” coming from his own mouth.  I won’t say it ruins the issue, but the glaring errors can be rather painful.
