It was almost like the snake of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named in the Harry Potter series — Nagini, one of the seven horocruxes of Voldemort – oops, I said the name! I hope no Death Eater would come out of my computer!
Well, this is not about the snake, but about a 43-year-old actress who dared to wear nothing else but … the big, slimy green thing with the forked tongue – just to grab people’s attention.
Giant billboards showing the picture above are causing stiff necks all over California.
The naked model is actually Mary-Louise Parker, the actress in the offbeat Showtime comedy series “Weeds.”
In an interview, the actress said had qualms before doing the snake pose. “I didn’t think I was going to do it actually,” she said. “But then, they were there and the snake was there, and I didn’t want the snake to win, so I put the snake on.
“And actually, I grew to really love the snake — by the end of the day.”
Parker is shown with the snake over her shoulder and down her back.
Parker stars as a widowed suburban mother who starts selling marijuana to support her family in “Weeds.”
The actress won an Emmy Award for “Angels in America.” She’s won two Golden Globe Awards, one for “Angels in America,” the other for “Weeds,” and had a recurring role on NBC’s “The West Wing.” Her screen credits include “Fried Green Tomatoes,” “Boys on the Side” and “The Client.”
Hmm, actually, it’s only now that I’ve come to know about Ms. Parker and her “Weeds” series. Thanks to the snake, I now have the urge to watch her.
