The North Country

September 13, 2008 By Jim

Pulled out this movie from the rental store, I felt the picture was so compelling to watch.  Turned out that this movie is a “talking movie”.  Of course it had dialogue and all, by “talking” I meant it drives a clear message of how workplace equality between men and women are still unfair.  I wouldn’t have guessed that from the title.  I thought it was about something else.

Let me share with you the film’s plot:

A fictionalized account of the first major successful sexual harassment case in the United States — Jenson vs. Eveleth Mines, where a woman who endured a range of abuse while working as a miner filed and won the landmark 1984 lawsuit

If you’re looking for something worthwhile to watch, I’d suggest to pull out this movie too.  Definitely a Friday night hit with friends and/or relatives.

This is Charlize Theron’s best movie I think.  Great performance.
