This is a special post for moms. 🙂 In honor of her dedication to family and the home.
Been away from the office for a long time? And probably been home taking care of domestic concerns for the last 1-3 years. Ah, you are a master at what you do… and what can anyone do without you MOM!
But you see, there comes a time too when stay-home moms would like to try exploring opportunities. Hey, even business opportunities are a snap especially because mom’s have that keen MBA degree… “Mom’s Business Acumen”. Somehow they do know what cool things to do and succeed on in business.
Well, here are a few tips to start you going on that track to the office:
- Take your time – you’ve been away for too long, you would need time to read-up and get back to the industry you’ve left 3-years ago. Surf the net and get to know what new skills are required for you to take on.
- Choose wisely – I wouldn’t go cold turkey and leave home for the 9-5 job. I’d look for where I could do say about 3-4 hours a day. Look for companies who are “family oriented” and you feel would understand your situation very well.
- Talk to the family – tell them about your plans on taking on a job. It would affect them too, specially if you’ve been taking on much of the household’s chore load.
These are just initial steps to consider prior to re-entering the work force. You must understand that along the way things may not be what you expect them. Take heart and brave on these difficulties. Keep your eyes on your goal.
