Remember this picture? I’m sure you do… well I guess it’s bye-bye to $3/gallon gas because at the moment it’s hitting its all time 5-year low. I just checked the local gas pumps last night to see a $1.40/gallon tag. How cool is that! 🙂 News website reports that because gas prices are dropping, cars and trucks sale are now in a steady rise.
The lowering gas price has hit the truck and van classes real big. People are just avoiding getting them these days because of their gas hogs. No wonder we see dealership ads pushing these big vehicles again.
“Despite all the public discussion of fuel efficiency, SUVs and trucks are the industry’s biggest sellers right now as a remarkable number of buyers seem to be compelled by three factors: great deals, low gas prices and winter weather,” commented Michelle Krebs, Senior Editor of Edmunds’ AutoObserver.com.
And as expected, the forecast finds that sales of hybrid vehicles are expected to be way down.
According to Edmunds.com, “This month, trucks and SUVs will make up 51% of all vehicles sold in the U.S. Before the spike in gas prices earlier this year, market share for trucks and SUVs had been even higher than that, said Edmunds.com sales analyst Jesse Toprak.”
