Bones Spinoff Casts Lead Role

March 10, 2023 By Marie F

Fox has cast the title character in its new Bones spinoff, The Locator. Geoff Stults, who’s had ongoing roles on Happy Town, October Road, Reunion, and 7th Heaven, will take on the main character Walter Sherman.

The Locator‘s premise will be introduced on an upcoming episode of Bones, where Stult’s former military policeman is depicted as a paranoid eccentric who can find anything. On Bones, Sherman won’t get along with Agent Booth, even though the two of them served together in Iraq. Dr. Brennan, on the other hand, will be find him fascinating. Academy Award nominee Michael Clarke Duncan has been cast as Sherman’s partner Leo, who’s described as “a tough, raw-hide, cowboy philosopher.”

‘Bones’ Creator Plans Spinoff

March 10, 2023 By Marie F

Bones creator Hart Hanson is introducing a new recurring character on his show this December that could lead to a spinoff.

On the December 6th episode of Bones the new character will be introduced, and his name is Walter Sherman. A former MP who served with Booth in Iraq, Walter is someone Booth doesn’t get along with, but Brennan will be fascinated by the eccentric man, who is said to be able to find anything. Walter suffers from acute paranoia due to brain damage he suffered during the war, which has made him skeptical of everything, and prone to asking questions that are seemingly offensive and irrelevant while trying to get to the truth.

According to TV Guide, the spinoff will be made or broken based on casting the right actor to play Walter Sherman.

But wait, wait… a Fox series… starring a mad/eccentric genius… named Walter… This character sounds vaguely familiar. Might I humbly suggest Mr. Hanson consider a different first name for his new character? And of course, this would hardly be the first Fox series to star an abrasive ingenue who uses a seemingly cruel personality to help people.

As for Hanson’s new show, I’ll certainly give it a shot. Bones is currently the only procedural I can stomach — mostly because I ignore the murder-of-the-week and focus instead on the sparkling chemistry between the show’s enjoyable characters.

Fox is planning to rock all week long

March 9, 2023 By Marie F

Don’t you just love it when networks do theme-weeks or nights? (Yes, that was sarcasm.) Like that night years ago when NBC had all of their Thursday night programs involved in a New York City blackout storyline?

Fox has something similar up its sleeve. Inspired by the success of Glee, a full week of programming on Fox will find nearly every show on the network engaging in song-and-dance numbers. From Thursday April 29th through Wednesday May 5th, shows like Bones, Fringe, House, The Simpsons, and more will feature musical performances woven into their episodes.

This sounds like a horribly cheesy idea on the surface. No doubt about that. But on the other hand, maybe Fox’s shows will take this as an opportunity to really challenge themselves creatively and come up with some clever ways of incorporating music into their eps.

We can only hope.
