Amazing Ways Stopping and Listening Will Improve Your Life

August 13, 2016 By Sally

sign-language

The problem with people is that they’re all too anxious to hurry their way through life. This is especially evident in the big cities where the clip of life is much faster than it is anywhere else, but the desire to hurry up and move onto the next moment is a universal thing that people struggle with.

Some people adore this way of life, but after a while, living life in forward motion without taking the time to slow down wares on people. If you’re the kind of person who is always looking to embark on the next journey but doesn’t take the time to stop, here are 3 ways that stopping and listening will improve your life:

You’ll Regain Perspective

When you live life with your eyes always fixed on a target in front of you but you don’t look to the left or the right, you certainly don’t look back, and you’re scared of looking down, you lose sight of everything else but what you’re focused on. This can be detrimental to so many aspects of your life. Sure, you might hit your target with striking accuracy, but at what cost?

If you arrive to your goal but you forgot the reason you set your sights on that goal in the first place, what was the reason for it all. If you feel like you’re at this point in life and the thing you’ve been moving towards with all your heart has lost meaning, stop, check your hearing, make sure you’re not tuning out the things and people that will put you back on the straight and narrow, and watch as your perspective begins to alter in a way where you can have new vigor, outlook, and passion for what it is you’re doing.

You’ll Find Thankfulness

When you tune out everything in life but the things that help you to accomplish your own selfish desires, things start to turn negative pretty quickly. Suddenly everything that happens that doesn’t pertain to you and doesn’t immediately help you fulfill your goals seem pointless, aggravating, and unfair, among other things.

When you stop everything that you’re doing, you listen to the desires, passions, and concerns of others, you tune into the sound of the wind, you let the meter of the water crashing over the stones wash over you, you let the sound of the music impact you and take away your anxiety, you find that you have everything to be thankful for in life.

It’s true that there is a lot to accomplish in life, but who is putting that pressure on you? You were made to live, but you were also made to exist. Just because a tree stays in one place its entire life doesn’t mean it didn’t live out the fullness of its life. When you stop, listen, reflect, and practice an attitude of thankfulness, everything changes and suddenly there is less pressure to perform and more grace to be.
