Bourne Spin-Off Coming from CSI Creator

March 10, 2023 By Marie F

Anthony Zuiker, the man best known for creating CSI, is developing a new series for CBS called Treadstone.

Viewers of the Bourne films — or the Robert Ludlum novels upon which they’re based — remember Treadstone as the black-ops wetwork unit that just won’t leave Jason Bourne alone. Treadstone was depicted as a rather ruthless organization that brainwashed and programmed their operatives to be precision instruments at dealing death. Zuiker’s hour-long drama is said to put the focus on the work of this clandestine agency, presumably pitting the team that works there as its protagonists, not its villains.

Screenwriter John Glenn is writing Treadstone‘s script and will executive produce the series alongside Zuiker. The show has not yet been greenlit by CBS, though CBS has a first-look agreement with Zuiker and has committed to funding a pilot script.

Should it go to air, it ought to be interesting to see if audiences will buy into a series set in Jason Bourne’s world, but without Bourne himself appearing in it.

Sela Ward joining CSI: NY

March 9, 2023 By Marie F

Well that was fast. Mere hours after it was announced that Melina Kanakaredes was leaving CSI: NY, CBS now says that actress Sela Ward will be joining the cast as Kanakaredes’ replacement.

According to producers, Ward will be playing a new character who’s “an experienced investigator from Washington, D.C., whose work is driven by her empathy for the victim.” She’ll first appear on the show during the Season 7 premiere in the Fall.

Both CBS and CBS TV Studios released the following joint statement:

My Top 3 TV Series On DVD

March 8, 2023 By Marie F

The WB's

Christmas Day may have come and gone but it does not mean that you cannot give any more gifts, right? In fact, I still have a couple of people that I won’t be seeing till January so I have not bought gifts for them yet. I was thinking of getting them TV series on DVD. You might want to do something similar. Here are my top 3 picks.

The Gilmore Girls

Ok, I can hear people complaining – especially some men. But hey, you have to admit that the writing in this TV series is exceptional. The lines and the quips are just so witty that you really cannot expect to have them handy in real life. Well, unless you watch the shows over and over again. All the seasons of Gilmore Girls are available on DVD.

CSI
New York, Miami, Florida – each CSI fan his favorite “version” but I seriously wouldn’t mind having them all. After all, CSI episodes are always fun to watch, especially one after the other.

Charmed
I have to say that Charmed is one of my all time favorite TV series. True, the story is so out of this world. It is fiction. But hey, who can’t help but enjoy watching the Charmed ones kick the butts of all the evil demons that come their way? Not to mention the hip outfits and the romantic twists? I have the boxed set of seasons 1 to 8 and have seen them all over and over again. Oh, that reminds me, I think I shall start on one right now.

What’s on your ‘TV series on DVD” list?

Fishburne Breathes New Life Into CSI

March 8, 2023 By Marie F

60th Primetime Emmy Awards - Show

Matrix fans who are also into CSI found themselves short of ecstatic the night that Laurence Fishburne debuted on CSI. According to the statistics of that night’s airing of the very popular show, the ratings of the show went up to numbers that are so far the highest for this season. It seems, however, that the high ratings cannot be totally attributed to Fishburne’s first appearance. According to The Live Feed, other television networks showed repeats on the same hour that night. Naturally, viewers would choose to watch something new over something that they have already seen.

The report on The Live Feed provides the numbers:

“CSI” was seen by 20.6 million viewers and earned a 5.7 preliminary rating among adults 18-49. Lead-in “Survivor” (13.2 million, 4.1) was up slightly from last week. Moreover, 10 p.m.’s “Eleventh Hour” (13.4 million, 3.8) enjoyed its best performance ever — and marked the first time the freshman series has won its hour.

For those who have been following CSI, it is a well known fact that William Petersen is central to the show. The fact that he is leaving has been worrying a lot of people – both on the production side and the viewer side. Will Laurence Fishburne be a suitable replacement for the longstanding Petersen? Will his character be able to sustain the momentum that the show has gathered through time?

These questions – and more – will only be answered when the departure is made final in the next few episodes. CSI fans, what do you think?
