Duggars Introduce Newest Baby

January 31, 2010 By Sally

The whole Duggar family is no stranger to the limelight. They have been featured on TV, magazines, newspapers and every member of the family is used to the coverage. Last year, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar announced that they were expecting their 19th child. Naturally, they were once again exposed to publicity.

On December 10, 2009, Michelle gave birth to Josie Brooklyn. She was born prematurely, at only 25 weeks’ gestation. The much awaited birth of the Duggars’ 19th child was a mixture of joy and anxiety as being born at this stage is a very dangerous affair. Indeed, Michelle has said that if her baby were born many years ago, she probably wouldn’t have lived even for an hour.

Yet seven weeks later, baby Josie Brooklyn is very much alive and doing quite well. In fact, the Duggars have finally introduced her to the rest of the world by releasing her photos. When Josie Brooklyn was born, she weighed a mere 1 lb and 6 oz. Today, she weighs 2 lbs. and 3 oz.

The whole family has been with her the whole time, moving temporarily from their home in Tontitown, Arkansas to Little Rock. Her current “home” is the intensive care unit of the Arkansas Children’s Hospital. The Duggars are quite happy with her progress and are very thankful for the doctors and the nurses that are taking care of baby Josie. They continue to express their thanks and say that they are hopeful that everything will turn out for the best.

American Idol: No More Simon After This Season

January 12, 2010 By Sally

The popular singing contest is back on air, much to the delight of its ardent followers. This season is a very important one for American Idol as it seems to be a defining period. For one, longtime judge Paula Abdul exited the stage after the previous season. Various celebrities guested as judges and now it is Ellen Degeneres who has taken Paula’s place permanently.

Now it seems that American Idol is to be dealt another blow: judge Simon Cowell is leaving after this season! The news is that he has decided to say goodbye to the show, which he has been part of for the longest time, because he is bringing a new show to the United States. Dubbed “The X Factor,” the show was created by Cowell and is already popular in Great Britain. He is introducing it to the American audience via Fox.

Obviously, this decision is going to have serious effects on American Idol. As sharp as Simon’s tongue can be, no one can deny that he brings a certain flavor to the show. The interaction between him and Paula was interesting, and Paula’s leaving has already had its effects. If Simon were to go for real, it just might bring down the mighty show called American Idol.

However, Simon Cowell and other bigwigs in the TV industry say that this is not going to be the case. They predict that American Idol will continue to be a major player in the world of reality TV shows. How about you? What is your prediction?

Oprah To Quit?

November 9, 2009 By Sally

No way, right? That was my first reaction when I read bits and pieces online about Oprah possibly canceling her long time TV show. After all, Oprah (the show) has become one of the most popular – if not THE most popular – talk shows all over the world.

As they say, though, if there is smoke, then there is fire. So what is the reason for this “rumor” going around? The Los Angeles Times reported that Oprah recently named Lisa Espramer as her creative chief:

The highly anticipated but delayed OWN: the Oprah Winfrey Network will soon have a chief creative executive.

OWN said Wednesday that Erspamer would work with other executives to “create, shape and drive programming and ensure Oprah’s unique editorial voice across all platforms.”

If you think about it, this is the next logical step in Oprah’s career. She has been hosting her talk show forever and her “empire” has expanded to such great extent, that it is about time for her to have her own network. There are so many implications of this move, however, one of which is the idea that Oprah just might say goodbye to ABC and make her new network her permanent home. I do not blame people for thinking this – I honestly think that this has occurred to Oprah (if she has not decided on it yet). And even if she moved to her new network, I am sure she will still have the Oprah Winfrey Show there – if with some changes. If that happens, then her show as we know it today just might see the end.

What do you think? Is this a new era for the Oprah Winfrey Show?
