Business owners and employers are going to be given a bigger role in the training of ex-offenders under new government plans designed to cut crime.
The joint Green Paper from the Department of Education and Skills , the Home Office and the Department for Work and Pensions is aimed at lessening re-offending by improving the skills of former criminals.
Some of the proposals include more relevant training that are designed by and responding to employers’ needs, a new “contract” for offenders that includes incentives if they participate and a “campus” model that will guarantee education continuity from prisons into the community.
Company formation and business solutions experts welcome the move and hope that this program will help reintegrate more former criminals into the mainstream.
